OPRFC Bar Refurbishment

Dear Member

As you are no doubt aware refurbishment of the bar area of the clubhouse started on 30th May and we now write to advise you that the work is progressing well.  To date the following work has been completed:

All demolition work, including the ‘half wall’ between the skittle alley and the bar area and the removal of the existing multi-material internal walls;

Removal of all the old suspended ceilings and electrical wiring;

Re-routing of gas and water pipes;

Erection of the new roof over the entrance to the patio area, including the replacement and reorientation of steel support beams.  This area is now watertight and new cladding to match the existing roofing sheets is on order;

Erection of new plaster board walls, skimmed and painted with primer coats;

Placement of a new ceiling throughout the room at a single height, apart from two recesses fitted with acoustic, sound dampening boards;

Completion of new electrical wiring;

Decoration of the entrance area into the club from the car park;

Replacement of the suspended ceiling in the skittle alley with acoustic, sound dampening boards;

The main items to complete are the laying of the new floor and the fitting of the new bi-folding doors leading to the patio.  Both items have been ordered.

The flooring is due for delivery within one week. The doors however may not be delivered until 9th August as the contractor wanted to ensure that this engineered installation was correctly dimensioned prior to final order.  Final decoration will then be completed.

The original intention was for the work to be complete within an eight-week period, before the end of July, but this will not now be possible.  We will keep you informed of a likely completion date as the work progresses and we are maintaining regular contact with the contractor to ensure that there is minimal disruption to the operation of the club.

On a separate note, we can confirm that new furniture has been ordered which will include chairs, tables, poser tables and high stools.

We trust that you will consider the delay to the completion to be acceptable as we try to ensure that the new facility will be something that all members will enjoy for many years to come.
